The Region Basilicata, formerly called "Lucania" is one of the most attractive and pristine places  in  Europe covering an area of 10,000 square Kilometres. Situated between Puglia, Calabria and Campania  it has got a population of  600.000 inhabitants, called "Lucani".  The Basilicata virgin and wild landscape offers enchanting views of beautiful forest,  indented coastline, old  limestone  slopes  called “Calanchi”, endless golden beaches and in the background the amazing peaks of the Appenines.

Built on the top of the hills numberless small villages with ancient and medieval castles, full of cultural tradition. The mountains of the Vulture area  the Dolomites dominate the  landscape along with the imposing massif of Pollino, which gives the name to one of the largest most important national parks of Europe: The Pollino National Park. The symbol of which the "Pino Loricato" the park is the oldest tree known in Europe.
